Timothy E. Wright, Sr. is a native of Princess Anne County, now Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he was reared by his loving grandmother, Virginia Commack. He graduated from Frank W. Cox High School matriculated at Norfolk State University earning a B.A. in Art Education and a M.A. in Communication. Pastor Wright also holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from Saint Leo University and the Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University. To further equip himself for the cause of Christ, Pastor Wright attended The Billy Graham School of Evangelism and is presently pursuing the Doctorate of Ministry Degree in Spiritual Renewal and Leadership at Regent University. He retired from Norfolk Public Schools after 31 years of service; he taught at Ruffner Middle School for 26 of those years. Pastor Wright has also taught as adjunct professor at the New Jerusalem Bible College and Theological Seminary located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Pastor Wright’s Christian journey began at his family church, Morning Star Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. He was very faithful in Sunday school attendance. His faithfulness was rewarded by being appointed assistant to the Sunday School superintendent at age 14. In 1969, Pastor Wright united with the New Hope Church of God in Christ, in Norfolk, Virginia, under the pastorate of the late Bishop Herman Clark, Sr. He was a dedicated young man with a heart for God and an unquenchable love for the Word of God. In this new ministry, Pastor Wright continued in the Sunday school as a teacher and assistant superintendent. Other services included: Youth Minister and Teacher, Usher, Choir Member, Pastor’s Anniversary Committee, Artist in Residence, Director/Teacher- New Hope Christian Community Summer Youth Program, and Assistant to the Pastor
As Pastor Wright grew in wisdom and knowledge, he was called to the ministry in 1971, licensed at age 17, and ordained three years later under the leadership of Bishop Samuel L. Green, Jr. He has served in many capacities in the Church of God in Christ Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Virginia – local, district, and state. He served over 20 years as the Norfolk District Sunday School Superintendent and State Treasurer for USAC (United State Auxiliaries Conference). Pastor Wright’s first pastoral appointment was Glad Tidings Church of God in Christ where he served for eleven years. Currently he serves as the State Assistant Sunday Superintendent and Chairman of the State Board of Ordination. Although his load is quite involved, Pastor Wright serves Victorious Living Ministries with spiritual dignity, having a love for God and people.
Pastor Wright is a family man. July 21, 1979 he married Verdonda L. Alexander. The Lord blessed them with five beautiful, gifted, very special children who love and live for the Lord, Kimberly and her husband Bobby, Dedra and her husband Clinton, and Timothy, Jr. He also has four wonderful grandchildren to the union of Kimberly and Bobby: Xavier, Brianna, Destiny, and Makayla; and one granddaughter, Cayley, to the union of Dedra and Clinton. Pastor Wright’s mission is “To Know the Lord Jesus and to Make Him Known!”
