February Third Thursday: Black History Month Observation
At VLM, Thursday nights are set aside for our VLM Academy, traditionally known as Bible Study. Every Thursday night, we dive into the Word of God and draw out practical truths that we can make applicable to our everyday lives. This is one way we exercise the mission of Victorious Living Ministries: Building and equipping the family, through the Word of God, to know Jesus and to make HIM known.
However, Third Thursdays are our “special interest units” where we focus on a particular topic or interest. In short, Third Thursdays are about “Building and equipping families with culture, knowledge, and fellowship.”
On Third Thursday, February 18, 2015, in honor of Black History Month, The VLM Family screened a documentary entitled “Soundtrack for a Revolution.” The film spoke of the power of freedom songs sang during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. It featured several key players of the movement; some are yet living, while others have passed. But the most moving part of the film was seeing the songs song in that time period, and hearing the stories behind them, juxtaposed with modern-day artists giving their twist of these classics. It was an evening of transgenerational enlightenment, allowing all ages, to be exposed to a story line of American History that should never be forgotten.
Join us for our next Third Thursday where our First Lady, Verdonda Wright, will lead us in “Healthy: Soul and Food” in observation of National Nutrition Month. She will be giving a brief presentation and demonstration on healthy eating. This will take place on March 17, 2016 at 7:00 PM. We’re asking for a donation of $5.00 for each participant to cover the expenses for the evening.
VLM: we are not just a church…we are a family! Here, you belong!
